Over time, the effects of reduced collagen, sun exposure, and gravity can start to take a toll on your skin. While loose skin and wrinkles are an expected part of aging, there are ways to improve the health and appearance of our skin. A thread face lift can help support sagging skin, reduce wrinkles, and boost the skin’s strength and laxity. It’s one of the treatments our team at RefineU MedSpa in Oklahoma City, OK, are pleased to offer.
What Is the Best Age for a Thread Face Lift?
A Wide Age Range
Some patients are 30 years old and just starting to notice laxity and fine lines settling in. Other patients are over 50, and looking to improve more pronounced wrinkles. A thread face lift is versatile and can provide excellent results for a wide age range. In general, if you have skin laxity, texture issues, or wrinkles you want to improve, this could be a great option.
Thread lifts can be used for specific concerns, like nasolabial folds or forehead wrinkles, or for more general improvements. In addition to the face, this treatment has also been used for the neck and other areas of the body. Patients of any gender can reap the benefits of this gentle yet powerful treatment.
We Can Offer Advice
If you want to improve your skin laxity but aren’t sure if you’re a good candidate for a thread face lift, we’d be happy to offer our input. When we meet with you, we can evaluate the health of your skin, talk through your goals, and explain the different treatments we offer.
If this is the best treatment for your needs, we can describe the process in further detail to give you a clear idea of what to expect. If we believe a different option may help, we can offer advice about that as well. Ultimately, our goal is to help our patients get the results they’re looking for and find a treatment that’s a good fit for their schedule, needs, and lifestyle.
What Are the Benefits of a Thread Face Lift?
It Looks Natural
Most patients want their results to look like they simply turned back the clock and have regained a more youthful face. If you’re concerned that a cosmetic treatment could make you look like a different person or give you an artificial appearance, it may be helpful to know that this treatment is meant to offer very natural-looking results.
On the one hand, the threads encourage your face’s natural collagen production. Younger people naturally have more collagen in their skin, so boosting collagen levels is helpful in achieving a more youthful complexion. In addition, we are able to work with your facial structure as we manipulate the threads and gently guide your skin into a more correct position.
It’s Not Surgery
Face lift surgery can provide dramatic results, but it can be intimidating for many patients. Surgery would require time taken off of work to recover, which is not something everyone can or even wants to do.
While surgery can be a good fit for some, a thread lift could be a good alternative if you’re not ready to consider surgery right now. The reason this treatment is called a thread face lift is it can provide many of the same benefits as a traditional face lift but without the surgery.
No Scarring
Scars and surgery go hand-in-hand. Even though face lift scars are often well-hidden behind the folds of the ear or the hairline, some patients are nervous that the scars could make them feel self-conscious or limit the way they wear their hair. Going with a thread lift instead can allow you to avoid surgical scars altogether.
A “Practice Run”
You may want a surgical face lift in the future but find yourself not quite ready for the permanent commitment or big investment. In that case, a thread lift can buy you some time while also giving you an idea of what your surgical results could look like.
Fast and Reliable
Because this treatment stimulates collagen, your results should actually continue to improve over several weeks as your body responds to the extra collagen production. That said, since the threads are used to physically position your skin, you should be able to notice benefits like improved laxity and reduced wrinkles almost immediately.
If you have a special event coming up, let us know about it so we can help you tailor your treatment timeline. This could be a good option since you can enjoy fast benefits and help your skin look its best for the big day.
What Are My Treatment Options?
Our Approaches
A thread lift will use a small catheter to deliver the threads where they need to go. We will pinpoint the right placement using your facial structure, our experience, and your aesthetic goals as our guide. All of our thread lift options are non-surgical, but different threads and approaches to application can be helpful for different patients.
To give us more versatility and our patients more options, we offer threads from both NovaThreads and MINT PDO threads.
NovaThreads
PDO threads are used for a NovaThreads lift. Polydioxanone is the material used for PDO threads. This is a biodegradable substance that can be harmlessly absorbed by the body, much like the threads used for cardiovascular and other surgeries. That means these threads can be put to good use lifting up the skin and then will gradually fade away.
However, even when the threads dissolve, the benefits from extra collagen can keep your results going strong for a year or even longer. Subdermal tissues are targeted during treatment since this is the most effective area to focus on for powerful collagen production.
MINT PDO Threads
MINT PDO threads are known for their strength, so patients who want dramatic results may want to go for this option. They can smooth wrinkles, improve texture, and stimulate collagen in the face, neck, and other areas of the body.
A good thread is half the battle, with proper technique being the other part of the equation. After we help you choose the right thread option, we’ll focus on picking the right approach when it comes to applying the threads and targeting specific areas.
Silhouette InstaLift
Are you looking to target your brows, jawline, neck, or mid-facial area? The Silhouette InstaLift can be used to improve concerns in all of those areas. The unique shape of these sutures gives them the ability to “anchor” into the skin, which helps keep the thread in place throughout treatment and moving forward. These are known as suspension sutures.
Are There Different Types of Threads?
Barb Threads
In addition to using different brands and approaches, there are different thread structures we can use as well. This helps tailor the experience even more for our patients. For instance, barb threads are specifically designed to deliver a powerful lift.
Tiny barbs along these threads give them extra gripping ability. They can be used on many areas of the body but are especially popular for the face and neck. Patients with moderate to severe skin laxity or wrinkles may want to consider barb threads.
Smooth Threads
If your face has lost some of its youthful glow and you find yourself battling skin texture issues or wanting to improve the skin’s elasticity and strength, you may want to consider a smooth thread. A mesh-like pattern can be used to smooth out the skin and reduce fine lines while also stimulating collagen production.
Twist Threads
To help with deep wrinkles like forehead lines, marionette lines, or nasolabial folds, a thicker twist thread may be the right choice for the job. They can help smooth out those deep lines and encourage facial rejuvenation through collagen production.
Can I Do Anything to Protect My Results?
Good Skincare
Unprotected sun exposure can wreak havoc on the skin, leaving it more prone to reduced collagen, uneven skin texture, and early wrinkle development. When you’re enjoying the great outdoors, sunscreen and protective clothing can help you keep your skin as healthy as possible. This can help you make the most of your results.
Scheduling Treatments
Results can last for up to two years, but some patients find that a yearly treatment helps their skin look and feel as healthy as possible. By maintaining your results, you can help your skin keep up its collagen levels.
