At RefineU MedSpa in Oklahoma City, OK, we strive to help all of our clients restore their self-confidence to a level they haven’t felt in years. One of the most popular treatments we offer to help us achieve this goal is CoolTone, an FDA-approved body contouring treatment. Today, we’re taking a closer look at this treatment to help you determine if it could be a good fit for you. Keep reading to learn more if you are disappointed in your muscle tone.
How Long Does CoolTone Take?
As a general rule of thumb, you can expect your CoolTone treatment session to take roughly 30 minutes to complete. Several factors affect how long your session will take, including the scope of your cosmetic concerns. For instance, you can expect your session to take around half an hour if you are only concerned about the muscle tone in your thighs, buttocks, or abdomen.
However, you should expect your session to take closer to 90 minutes if you want to target all three areas. Additionally, your treatment session may take an hour or longer if you want to combine other cosmetic treatments with your muscle toning treatment.
What Should I Expect During My CoolTone Treatment Session?
Your targeted muscles may feel a bit odd during your treatment, but you should not anticipate feeling any pain. This CoolTone treatment works due to MMS, or magnetic muscle stimulation. You will be able to feel your targeted muscles contracting deeply for a few seconds before getting a brief reprieve, but the muscle contractions will not hurt. During your treatment, you can get the same benefits of 25,000 squats, situps, or lunges in just about 30 minutes.
How Long Will It Take Me To See My Desired Results?
How long it will take you to see your desired results depends on how many sessions you need to achieve optimal results. Often, people need four treatment sessions spaced at least three days apart to achieve their desired muscle tone. However, if your muscle tone is currently very poor, you may need two sessions weekly for approximately four weeks.
Note that it is not only the degree of improvement you need that affects how many sessions you will need. Another factor affecting how many sessions you will need is how well you can tolerate the treatment. The device can provide intensity levels ranging from 1-100%. If you feel comfortable with the device operating at full strength, your sessions will be more effective.
How Long Can I Expect My Results To Last?
You can generally expect your ideal results to last at least three to six months. However, your results can last a lot longer if you exercise regularly and eat at maintenance. The reason exercise can extend the longevity of your results is that it protects your muscles from atrophy.
Your diet plays a role in how long you can expect your contours to remain ideal because gaining fat in your treated areas will hide your results even if your muscles remain toned. As a general rule, it is a good idea to gain no more than 10 pounds after your course of treatment. If you have a history of significant weight fluctuations, you may want to weigh yourself one to four times monthly to ensure you’re staying on track.
Am I a Good Candidate for This CoolTone Treatment?
To be considered eligible for this treatment, you must be at least 18 years of age and concerned about a lack of muscle tone in your thighs, buttocks, or abdomen. Additionally, you must be relatively healthy to qualify for treatment. This treatment may not be appropriate for you if you suffer from Graves’ disease, a seizure disorder, or an active bleeding disorder.
Furthermore, you should not consider this treatment if you have any metal or electronic implants or devices, like hearing aids, an insulin pump, a defibrillator, a neurostimulator, an implanted hearing device, or a cardiac pacemaker. Moreover, you should not get this treatment if you are pregnant, have cancer, have recently undergone surgery, or suffer from pulmonary insufficiency.
Can I Get This Treatment If I’m Menstruating?
If your menstrual cycle is regular, you should not schedule an abdominal treatment while you are menstruating, especially if you usually cramp while menstruating. Essentially, treating your abdomen is like doing 10,000 situps in 30 minutes. This may result in abdominal discomfort if you are menstruating during your treatment.
How Should I Prepare for My Treatment Session?
Due to the non-invasive nature of this treatment, you don’t need to do a lot to prepare beforehand. However, it is a good idea to use the restroom and refrain from eating a heavy meal prior to your appointment. Another good idea is to come in without cosmetics or metal. If you are wearing lotion or other cosmetics in your treatment area when you arrive for your appointment, it will be removed before your treatment begins.
You should not wear any metal jewelry or other accessories due to the magnet technology used to get your muscles to contract. Additionally, you may want to take half of a magnesium citrate supplement prior to your appointment. Magnesium helps to relax your muscles so they don’t feel too tight after the incredible workout they are put through.
What Other Body Contouring Treatments May Benefit Me?
CoolSculpting
CoolSculpting is another very popular body contouring treatment. It is extremely versatile, designed to remove excess subcutaneous fat from virtually any region of the body. Most of the time, it is used to remove excess fat from large areas of the body, like the stomach, back, hips, and sides. However, it can also be used to get rid of stubborn fat from other areas, like the buttocks, thighs, upper arms, underarms, and knees.
Note that whether you are eligible for CoolSculpting is determined by several factors. To verify that this treatment will be safe for you, we need to ensure that your medical history is free from contraindications. Similarly, we need to discuss your current health to ensure that this treatment will be safe for you. Furthermore, we need to make sure that this treatment will be effective for you. We look for clients with a BMI in the normal or overweight range.
Kybella
Kybella, like CoolSculpting, is a fat-removal treatment. However, it has only been approved by the FDA for use in the submental region. This treatment features deoxycholic acid and involves administering 20 to 100 injections per session. You can expect to need 20 to 50 injections per session if you only need to treat your chin or neck. You will only need up to 100 injections in a single session if you need to treat both your chin and neck.
Note that you will not be able to see the final results of your treatment as soon as your appointment is over. Your treated contours may feel, and even look, a little slimmer after your session. However, this is due to the liquefaction of roughly a quarter of the fat cells in the treated area. You will need to wait roughly six to eight weeks after your final treatment session for your lymphatic system to flush out the fat cells.
Morpheus8
Morpheus8 is a great body contouring treatment for you if you are frustrated by loose skin. Whether your skin is too loose due to losing a lot of weight quickly or the natural aging process, this treatment can tighten your skin effectively and efficiently. This non-invasive treatment involves inducing extra collagen production in two ways.
One way extra collagen production is induced is through the creation of tiny “wounds” in the fibroblasts in the skin. Your skin ramps up its collagen production in response to these injuries because collagen plays a key role in facilitating skin healing. The other way this treatment encourages your skin to produce more collagen is through the heat produced by the radiofrequency energy.
